Hey everyone! It’s been a while since we’ve had something posted on our site but I figured, what better article to put up than one about my favorite superhero? That’s right, we’re going to take a look at the current run on Aquaman by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Robson Rocha, who took over the book with December’s Aquaman #43. For this article, I wanted to provide a recap for readers because if you’re like me and you read a lot or you’re busy, sometimes you forget some details over the course of a month! So we’ll take a look at the past few issues from DeConnick and Rocha to get you set for this week’s release of Aquaman #46! Let’s get going! Fair warning to those who are not caught up and don’t want to be spoiled, this article WILL have spoilers, so be warned.

With the release of his first ever solo film, Aquaman has never been more popular than he is right now and to cash in with the hype, DC Comics have taken the character in a bold, new direction in his current series. In the previous forty-two issues, Dan Abnett explored the struggles and pressure of being monarch of Atlantis and the dangerous political games Arthur had to become involved with. He battled with his archnemesis Black Manta, fought the shadowy organization N.E.M.O., tussled with Abnett’s own creation, the dangerous sea creature named Dead Water again, and fought to free Atlantis of its evil tyrant king, Corum Rath.

After two years writing the character, it was time for someone new to step in and with December’s #43, Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel) and Robson Rocha (Green Lanterns) took over, taking Aquaman on a brand new adventure. After the course of Scott Snyder’s “Drowned Earth” story in his Justice League series, Aquaman is teleported to a mysterious village called “Unspoken Water” where he lives a relatively peaceful life. However, for reasons we do not yet know, Aquaman’s memories were stolen from him once he came to the village and he has no idea who he is or his connection to the sea. He goes by the name of “Andy” as he lives among the odd inhabitants of the village. He tries to piece together who he is with the help of a young woman named Caille, who turns out to be a very important individual in this village (we’ll take a look at that in a bit!).
